Understanding Backlinks!

First, what is backlinks? Back links are links from other popular websites to your website that assist with your PageRank. The more popular websites that point to your main website, the better your PageRank will be. There are many methods to developing backlinks. Blog commenting, link exchanges, profile link building in places such as Facebook, forum postings, and banner ads on websites are just some of the methods used to obtain backlinks. The best kinds of backlinks are from websites that share common interest as your own. It is not as beneficial for you to have a gun shop pointing to your website if you sell children's clothing.

It is difficult for a new website to begin generating traffic on its own without proper search engine placement and no means of being found from other websites. As a website owner, you are required to do the virtual leg work and seek out the best means of getting the word out and streamlining your link across the web.

Once the ability to generate backlinks and generate relationships with other companies out there, the easier it will be to get your page ranked properly to start getting those hits to your site. If you exchange links with other websites, they post your link and you post theirs, both your site and their site will benefit from the exchange and show better results on search engines.
